Diary of Rebecca Britannia 1845

My brother and I have spent the better part of four days getting on and off our countries trains, it has been a wonderful, however I know that I am riding on the backs of our countrymen who have worked hard to create this railroad that only expands so far west, I hope that I might help in creating a railroad that expands the entire country of Britannia. However I am hearing from some of the military that has come west with the people that hostile Native raids are becoming more frequent, I hope that we could work out treaties that are beneficial like my great-great grandfather Nathaniel Britannia had done with the natives that had helped us build our great nation and continue to help us now. I only hope that this won’t lead to violence. That is my true fear, that our country will have do something drastic like go to war with our natives in our western lands.  I am also hearing that  our trade negotiations with Mexico  our beginning to breakdown. However I did get a letter from a charming young senator that we might be buying lands from Russia. I wonder what that is like as well. A frozen tundra, I have heard that Russia is similar in temperature
