Reply from the King

To Thomas Britannia, my Blood-kinsmen,

I have spoken with my advisers, as well as with
Parliament over your grievances, I will work diligently with Parliament to remove as many of the policies as possible. I suspect there will be great reform in our colonial daughters. I hope to speak with you sometime, my grandfather and father told me many stories of your Grandfather and I would love to meet the legend, I had heard that he had been banned from seeing parliament five years ago after he gave one of the parliament members a thorough trouncing for insulting a friend of your grandfathers. Even though the parliament member was much younger, they say your Grandfather bested him easily.

Your King,

King James Wallace III

Letter to the King

To the King of Scotland and the lands beyond, James Wallace III,

Our grandfathers fought together to reclaim the glorious empire of Scotland from the weak willed English, they could not allow for the English defilers to sit on the throne so they fought together and destroyed the colonies of England, and then retook the throne of your great-grandfather. My grandfather was King Wallace I blade of the sea. His sole purpose was to strike fear into the hearts of our countries enemies, and he led many great raids to foster the seeds for which the colonies now take fruit from. I humbly ask you as a blood-kinsman, to repeal the acts that parliament has enacted. We need our autonomy back. Parliament has set up many “helpful” Naval juries, as well as the House of Commons, a Scottish court that controls colonial trade. We know what is best for the colony; we live on this great lands soil. They do not, we know when to plant, how much resources we need, and what we need. The House of Commons can’t do that for us. There have already been uprisings among the farmers in the north due to the “helpfulness” of self-imposed Scottish Governors, that parliament has given us. The farmers feel that they are trying to be enslaved, that these inadequate, unfamiliar Governors, who only were able to get in because they had money, and wanted to control the colony, have already broken the peace that we had obtained from defeating the French. We also require the lands that the rebel Native, Pontiac has taken control of. Not understanding our agreement with the local tribes that controlled other warring tribes, like that of Pontiac’s, parliament allowed Pontiac to take control in a rebellion that would have been quelled within the year by our alliance with friendly Natives. Parliament will not allow us to help these kind Natives who worked with our grandfathers to destroy the British. If we do not help them soon, they shall be destroyed. I know many colonists will not let that happen. The Whiskey act, Grain act, and many other tariffs, have destroyed the economy of the colonies; we know our duty is to the Crown as well as to that of Scotland; however our army led by my father and many others defeated France on our lands as they made war to the colonies as well as to the Crown. However we need time to recover, we do not have the resources at this time to give to the motherland as much as we used to give us time regrow and expand. The Crown could see triple or quadruple the normal profit if you just hold for a little while. Increase taxes to the other Royal Colonies, we need time to recover they have yet to fight. We are being taxed and our voices are not being heard. We will no longer stand idly by while parliament raises taxes, tariffs, and acts that do nothing but hurt the Britannia colonies.

Sincerely,
Thomas Britannia, Statesmen and Blood-Cousin to the King.

Journal of Thomas Britannia- Grandson of Nathaniel

 October 1 1763

My Father, Hawthorne Britannia has given me to the many journals of my Grandfather. So I can see how he had lived his life before settling within the New World. I was surprised to read that he was a pirate. He enjoys sailing as much as he did when he was younger. However he is getting old now, and his flame of youth is slowly burning away. For the last sixty-two years, the colonies of the new world have grown into one of the largest territories of Scotland. Now a world power Scotland is becoming intolerable. Those on our mother soil know not of our struggles, and only see most of us as second class. We are all Scottish, and they would do well to remember what the Colonialists have sacrificed for them. Growing up I thought my father and grandfather were invincible. Now I lead a group of revolutionaries who do not wish to see our sixteen great colonies, Britannia, Florencia, New Wales, New Ire, West and South Catherine, Williamson, Antonia, Alaine, Alvania, Aquelia, to make note of Aquelia. I was never sure why they named themselves after my Grandfathers ship. I think it has to with the fact that the Governor that was granted the charter was one of my fathers sailors. A giant but peaceful man. Aragon their militia is quite strong, they focus on land based raid tactics from what my father and grandfather told me. Fiore, Genovia, Idris and Ivalice. Genovia, Idris and Ivalice are the youngest colonies, started in 1710, they have grown rapidly due to the diverse immigrants coming from Scotland as well as other areas around Europe. We will not stand idly by while Parliament does as they want to us. Like William Wallace before we will fight if we have too. I have already sent a letter to my blood-cousin King James Wallace III. I can only hope he listens. I can only hope that our grandfathers blood pact still holds strong.

New years eve

 December 31 1701

The town seems to have quieted down, I think my public display has put into position, a sort of quiet control, by the end of spring, I suspect that we will have judges and lawyers. James has already added three other colonies to the royal charter. I see in my future the most brightest of lands. Britannia, my new home, I think I can finally settle down if the lady of the sea will allow it. Although I think it will be the young woman of equal age to I, that will probably settle me first. She loves the sea almost as much as I, I cannot wait to ask for her hand of marriage if her father approves. He is that of noble birth, much like myself. I hope he will see me as an adequate son in law. Maybe being Governor isn't such a bad perk after all. If the people allow me to continue being there Governor, there will be much growth to look forward too. I only hope that we do not grow too fast. Too much expansion, too many wars will be the downfall of Scotland. However James is a good King, he knows that he cannot overextend himself. He has told me that he is expecting and wishes it to be a son. My blood-brother. I will say a prayer for you. E nomine patri, et fili, et spiritu sancti.

First Execution

December 29 1701

I do not take rape lightly. It was a virtue that my father bestowed upon me, that all should be treated as equal, woman or man, African or otherwise. One of my friends, a native merchant that owns the General store in town told me that his daughter was raped, and that she left a distinctive scratches along the man's face, before she was beaten unconscious by the man. The man then came in later that evening to drop off his daughter at his doorstep. Saying that "He found her laying behind the store beaten." When he found out what had really happened from his daughter he was furious but he came to talk to me first. His daughter told me the same story. I can not put into words the rage that I felt, and still feel. So I investigated this report, found the man, he was bragging to his buddies how the native "harlot" enjoyed every moment, and the claw marks were out of passion not anger. I took that as a confession. I showed him what happens when you commit a capital offence in my colony. I hung him from his genitals. I didn't even cover his mouth as he screamed in pain. I let it be known to all that this man committed the crime of rape, and if I heard any reports from anybody. The same would happen to them. When his genitals finally tore off from the weight of his own body, I mercifully shot him in his head.

Governor Britannia gives a speech!

Britannia Royal Paper

The Governor of our great, Governor Nathaniel Britannia, gave a speech on the courthouse steps after returning from the Royal Caribbean Colonies. He spoke eloquently for such a young man, and I was quite impressed with the way he handled the crowd of men, farmers who wished to see the Native population of Britannia, forcibly removed from the Western lands. The farmers see it as their natural right as Scottish citizens to acquire such lands.  Governor Britannia in his speech stated that, “I know all of you wish to have more land; I know that our colony needs to expand, to grow stronger, and to be the best that we can. To give back to Scotland for all that she has given us. However, the Native tribes to our great colony helped me personally, raid and get rid of the English loyalists and those that would harm our great country. So I ask of you let them be, I will speak to them. They will go to the great hunting lands, which we all share for the winter. They go so that they we don’t have to. They go so that we can plant for the spring. They will not be using parts of their field for the winter months, I am sure that they will loan us those acres of land for us to use, as long as we return it when they return after the spring harvest. They are our allies; they control other violent tribes that wish to destroy us. To our south lies such tribes, if you wish to expand, expand southward. There is just as rich land to the south as there is to the west. I implore you as your Governor and your friend. Respect our allies’ wishes.” Now time will only tell what the farmers and others might do, however I foresee in our future southern expansion.

Captain's Log Month 2 Day 29

September 29 1701

As I arrived back in our port, I noticed a large crowd gathered at what used to be the English courthouse.I had my men unload the supplies and take with them the storehouse at the edges of the docks. As I came up, I noticed that the men were chanting for the removal of the Native population. That it was there god given rights to expand and that they would begin to do it whether the council allowed it or not. I stepped through the crowd, most parting when they realized I had returned. As I stepped onto the courthouse steps, there were many things running through my mind. I decided to that I would give a speech, where I don't threaten the townspeople, but I make it clear that the Native population were here to help us. That we would be no better than the English if we tried to force them from their lands. That seemed to quiet their protest. I still had those who wished to take the land of the Natives, so I decided to go see my friends at the tribe to ask if there were any lands that they wouldn't be using during the winter. That if we could rent from the land for the winter, work the land for timber or plant crops for the spring harvest.

Captain's Log Month 2 Day 17

September 17 1701

I have finally been able to get back onto the ocean today, I have only taken my main crew and shall be going to the Caribbean to pick up more supplies that we could use for the colony. I have in my command only three ships, which is a far cry of my usual twelve, when we first came to the Britannia colony, I commanded twenty-five ships, each holding roughly two hundred to two hundred and fifty people not including the sailors on board, in total six thousand two hundred people put their lives in my hands. We have a port city and surrounding farms going but I fear that my fellow Scotsmen won't treat the native population with the same respect that I have. I have left a large number of my marines in place as protection against rebellion, and left my second in command in charge. He is a good man and he will treat everything fairly. Whats most important is that he cannot be bought off. So I know at least the native population will get a fair deal.

Captain's Log Month 2 Day 15

September 15 1701

We have already built many homes for my men to settle and farm, the native population that I call friends have already shown us the best places to plant for the winter. They have also given us food and shown my best hunters the places to hunt and fish for the winter. I can already tell that this colony will get off the ground well. I have noticed however some of these aren't as tolerant of the native population as my sailors and I are. I will have to show them the good that the native population can do. If they do not like it. I will do what I do best, and they won't like it when I do. I wish to get back to sea soon. I can feel Lady Britannia, of which my family is named, calling me back to the sea. To sail on her oceans. However there is much to do, and it will be another month before I can take the ships to trade our supplies to the Caribbeans or back to Scotland, there is much timber that can be sold for high prices. I can only hope that Lady Britannia continues to smile favors upon us.

Captain's Log Month 1, Day 3

August 3, 1701

We have been sailing for little over a month now, and
some of those that have never sailed before are starting to get nervous. They are farmers, never getting off their land. We will be settling in what was formerly known as Jamestown, after the Tudors of England and their King James I settled there. I originally had no Problem with the Colony, and it wasn't long until they started making more. I had no loyalties to Scotland as their navy did nothing to stop the Spanish raiders, so their coup meant little to me. It wasn't until they started threatening my crew member and friend Wallace, our now King, that I decided to step in. What was once a bustling colony with many resources, I reduced to ash. It didn't take long between my pirate raids and the Indian raids until they either all left or got wiped out. Now We head back their to resettle it. To fix it up and make it our own. The other colonies pledged their allegiance to James Wallace I, so I guess I won't need to destroy them either. I shall make trade with Boston though. Boston is a beautiful city, and one that allows me to freely move my ship in and out.
