New years eve

 December 31 1701

The town seems to have quieted down, I think my public display has put into position, a sort of quiet control, by the end of spring, I suspect that we will have judges and lawyers. James has already added three other colonies to the royal charter. I see in my future the most brightest of lands. Britannia, my new home, I think I can finally settle down if the lady of the sea will allow it. Although I think it will be the young woman of equal age to I, that will probably settle me first. She loves the sea almost as much as I, I cannot wait to ask for her hand of marriage if her father approves. He is that of noble birth, much like myself. I hope he will see me as an adequate son in law. Maybe being Governor isn't such a bad perk after all. If the people allow me to continue being there Governor, there will be much growth to look forward too. I only hope that we do not grow too fast. Too much expansion, too many wars will be the downfall of Scotland. However James is a good King, he knows that he cannot overextend himself. He has told me that he is expecting and wishes it to be a son. My blood-brother. I will say a prayer for you. E nomine patri, et fili, et spiritu sancti.

Captain Nathaniel Britannia.
