United Britannia News: We are a UNITED country! Delegates from all colonies decide on constitution!

United Britannia News

Thursday, November 21, 1766

United Britannia Delegates from all sixteen colonies have decided on a democratic-republic form of government where the people elect those that will sit in congress, that will represent their interests accurately, some may see this as a bad idea being that those with influence or power might find a way into power and become all powerful like that of James Wallace III, however the delegates have realized this and have put into place, a set of rights that will not allow them to do such things. Whats also of interest to note is that the people elect parties that represent their interests directly. At this time there will be three parties, those that represent farmers, merchants/nobility, and natives. If more need to be added in the future it will be up to the people to elect them. The congress also thought to put up Admiral Britannia for our first President, however he declined saying he'd rather sail the sea than be stuffed in an office which drew a laugh from all those who heard the speech, however he decided to put forth his younger sister. Aqualia Britannia was one of the main strategists and generals within the United Britannia Army. She is of brilliant mind and of noble heart. I will gladly vote for her in the upcoming election. Which is said to begin in January. I can only see one problem with this type of government. If one party gains too much power, then they can easily control what gets voted on and what happens to bills. It could be hard for the smaller parties to compete if one party gains a major  majority.

United Britannia Newspaper: Independance!

United Britannia Newspaper

Today, November 1, 1766, We have our independence. After Admiral Britannia burnt the SRS Victory in the harbor of Edinburgh, the black coats abandoned their arms and stopped fighting. Although the war was short much has been devastated. Farms have been destroyed, it will take some time to rebuild but I have no doubt that we will be able to and we will become a powerful nation. There are many delegates working in Feluciania to decide what kind of government we will have to run our great nation. Admiral Britannia is working to set up trade with Ireland. I can only hope that our future is just as bright as the morning sun that shone through my window this fine November morning. They must decide what our country will become, we are all free men and women. How will this country operate, we are a united republic. If I were to put my voice into this delegation, I would say that we need a central figure head but he will not have the power of the monarch, his power needs to be shared between more than one or two other branches of government. No I think we need multiple parties to reflect the social interests of the people. Have one figure head who is a part of one group that has majority vote from the people. However his or her power is then shared between three or four other parties that reflect the minorities interests as well. I think this will lead to a more practical and better government. I would call this the electoral branch, then they would be balanced by the Judicial branches which would have the power to say what is lawful and unlawful. Their sole duty would be to monitor and balance out the laws that the electoral branch would create.

Edinburgh Royal Newspaper: Admiral Thomas Britannia burns the SRS Victory in the waters of Edinburgh!

The
Edinburgh Royal Newspaper
Friday. February 1, 1766

Admiral Thomas Britannia, Grandson of Nathaniel Britannia, burned the Scottish Royal Ship Victory, the flagship of our Royal Navy in our Harbor today. At first when the ships came in we thought Admiral Nelson had captured the rebel navy. We began to shout in victory and cheer. As they pulled closer we began to chant a little louder, saying what a great loss the rebels had. However... and this is hard to write... We saw Admiral Nelson's body tied to the front of the Victory, and we could not speak for the horror. That is when we saw the ship go ablaze from a well placed shot from the rebel flagship Aqualia. Many of us screamed in horror and began to run as the pride of the Royal Navy went up in flames. I stayed however, to see it through. What little bit of black powder the pirates left on the ship exploded. Fire went everywhere.... the ship buckled under its own flaming wreck. I.. no longer feel we can win this war. We might want to suggest peace with the rebels. We do not know if they will come back and raid our beautiful city. Many of us are currently living in fear for what will happen next.

As I walked out of the cabin this morning, I saw the darkest clouds of my life. I also looked out over the ocean and saw the Royal Navy. I knew the time was upon us and I knew Admiral Nelson would be leading his Victory at the front and center of his fleet, I could not see how many ships they had, but I knew it to be many. I called forth the men of my ship, gave them the orders, told them to entrust in god, in Lady Britannia, then I felt the first drop of the rain, and smiled, I thought I knew what was about to happen next, but I could not expect the ferocity in which the sea opened up, and the sky set ablaze with light. It was as if god himself had descended unto this world. Rain began to pelt the side of the ship, howling winds came in, pushing our ship faster than we thought capable towards our enemy. We began to open fire around eight fifteen in the morning, however it was so dark it could be mistaken for night, the only light in the sky was the flash of light within the sky and the flash from our cannons. We took fire and continued to use the wind to our advantage using it to quickly change directions and take out two ships at a time. We continued to fire each salvo until only few ships remained. the amount of ships that lay scuttled was numerous, the bodies floating to the top of the water, the sea red with blood. When we boarded the last remaining ships, many captains surrendered and joined our cause. Only Nelson put up a fight, if you could call it that. As I boarded his ship, he began to spew how he was the royal admiral of the navy. Master of the sea, that he would kill me and put my head on the bow of his ship. That I was but a lowly pirate with a famous grandfather. I agreed and shot him in the head. I was tired of hearing his endless prattle. I strung him up on the bow of his victory, and told his second in command that I was now in charge. He promptly agreed and I told the ships with the delegates to Ireland to continue, I would take the Victory and my flagship to Edinburgh. I had a ship to burn.

Scot Courant: Ireland follows in colonial Rebellion, Scottish troops now have to fight on two fronts!

The
Scot Courant
Thursday. January 23, 1766

Ireland too has decided to rebel against the Great King of Scotland, James Wallace III, forcing our armies to fight on two fronts. The dastardly, and infectious nature of the rebellion has been sown within Ireland and due to the Irish's rebellious nature, have begun to tear the land apart. They will be put down with little effort, right now Admiral Nelson is taking most of his prized fleet to meet Thomas Britannia so that they can destroy the young Admiral's ragtag group of merchant and pirate ships, we will kill them all, and show the Irish and the colonialists what happens when you bite the hand of your master. We are Scotland, we are the strongest country, they are but second class citizens to us! We will kill them all, and only those loyal to the Royal family will still be alive.

I knew we would become a true army, as I looked out upon the ranks of men that formed up our land forces, I was proud to call myself a Britannian, I was proud to be a leader within our military, I saw for myself the strength and power that our army had. Under the command of General George Arne Longstreet, we will be victorious over the black coats. We will become independent, however we also got help from an unexpected ally. Ireland has decided to rebel as well, turning the Great Scottish Empire, into nothing but a shell, I will be escorting dignitaries to Ireland to form an alliance, as well as troops to help them to stay independent, no doubt along the way we will meet Nelson. I can't wait to scuttle and burn his victory to ash. I am only sailing with half my fleet though, I have left the other half back in United Britannia so that they may continue to supply and raid Scottish ships, as well protect her borders from parts of the Scottish Fleet that we may miss. Although unlikely, we cannot plan for everything. I have with me sixty-five warships. From what I have heard the Royal Navy have at least two and half times my current strength. However numbers don't always  mean victory. I will have to use the ocean, as well as the speed  of our ships to beat them. I can only hope that Lady Britannia will guide me to victory over Nelson. I can smell it in the air though. A storm is coming, and if the Royal Navy aren't careful, they will bogged down in the storm.

Journal of Admiral Thomas Britannia

December 17, 1765

So the most curious thing landed on my desk today as we restocked at our ports. It was a column from the Edinburgh Evening Courant. I was quite surprised when they mentioned my families name, as well as me. However that curiousness faded when they said I was dishonoring my grandfather. They called us Pirate and thieves, which is mostly true, we were a pirate colony to begin with. However we were also Scottish once. I will decimate Admiral Nelson, I will burn his prized fleet to the ground. I will make sure I do it while he is still inside, and if I don't succeed, and he somehow survives, I'll sail to Scotland with my fleet. I will turn that country inside out and turn every city into ash with my cannons. They will now what pirate raid is really like. However I cannot get to hasty. We need to secure our borders then we can talk about blasting Scotland to kingdom come. I will make sure though, that what is left of the Admiral Nelson's fleet not even the almighty himself could recognize. We are doing better on land, the winter is coming and the Crown have brought in the Grenadiers, the black coats, one of the finest military forces in the world, alongside the mercenary Hessians. We will have to overcome them through tactics, and if the Crown brings in the Hessians, we might be in trouble, but I will sink them hopefully, before they can get to the mainland. I do not know what lies ahead. However I will be ready for it, and when the time comes, all will know our strength.

Edinburgh Evening Courant: Colonial Rebels raid Ivalice armory, King James calls for their heads!

The
Edinburgh Evening Courant.
Saturday. December 7, 1765

Today the Rebel Colonialists, already in the first month and thirteen days of their rebellion have hit one of our major armories within Ivalice. This "War for Independence" is nothing more than an insurrection from ungrateful, inferior, and unintelligent "Britannians" They need to be taught a lesson, Admiral Nelson, is already mobilizing the most powerful navy in the world. He will decimate these lowly band of pirates and thieves. The only person of notable stock is the grandson of Nathaniel Britannia, who naturally due to his families gifted prowess at sea, is the naval commander of the rebel's navy. I'm sure his grandfather is rolling his grave right now if he could see what his grandson has done, to side with such rebels instead of the king is disgrace. I believe he is being conned into doing such things, and due to our King's leniency he will not harm Thomas Britannia. The great empire of Scotland will not be defeated by these rebels. We will decimate them, We will destroy them, they will be nothing under our great heel.

I know not when this war will end. It may end ten years from now, or may end in seven if god gives us the fortitude and power to fight on. I know not what will come, I know that we will continue to fight until we are exhausted and we can no longer pick up our rifle or no longer sail our ships. Over the last month, the navy has scored many victories both at sea, and as raiding parties to the Scottish controlled Caribbeans. We will decimate their forces wherever they may be. I also hear from my sister that is near the front lines that the main army stationed on the land is also doing quite well, they have repeatedly repelled the Scottish army that hopes to reclaim Britanic Hill. However we are not without casualties. I have proposed to my raiding parties that we raid the Scottish controlled armory in eastern Ivalice, that way we can send fresh ammo, cannons and muskets to supply our army. The Scottish navy plans to blockade the port cities, although they will not have success if I have anything to say, they still have the supply lines coming in from Canada, but it will be harder to supply their armies if they do not have access to the seas.

On the eve of our nation's first battle, I cannot help but think of all the sacrifices my family, and all the families of our great colonies have made in service to Scotland. However on the eve of this night, we break away. We learn to rule ourselves and fight as one nation, together. Our ships that we once used as merchant vessels are now being converted to warships, under command of the grandsons of those that sailed with my grandfather. I will be the head of the navy, just like my grandfather before me, I will raid and fight like he taught me. They will again learn the terror of facing pirates. They will learn what has been passed down through the Britannia line. What has been passed to all of these colonists. The will to lead ourselves, the fires of independence have been lit, and they will not so easily been extinguished. My brothers on land will begin opening fire with the cannons at dawn. I along with two other converted warships will begin attacking from the water ways, we will lay waste to the Scottish invaders. They have far overstayed there welcome.

Britannia Royal Paper
October 14, 1764
One year and thirteen days after our colonial representative Thomas Britannia, sent to the King of Scotland, James Wallace III, a letter detailing our grievances and concerns, we have received nothing return but heartache. Our taxes and misrepresentation in parliament has increased. I can assure you that the people of this colony and other colonies are reaching their boiling point. Soon the pot will boil over and our Scottish brethren across the great Atlantic will know the strength of arms, and the strength of our cause. They may label as rebels, but we will show them, even if comes to war. I know not what Thomas and the other representatives may be planning, but I know that they will put the people of Britannia, and all the other colonies first over the ideas of  “mother” Scotland. They will either give us what we desire, or they will know not to mess with us.
