Journal of Admiral Thomas Britannia

January 31, 1766

As I walked out of the cabin this morning, I saw the darkest clouds of my life. I also looked out over the ocean and saw the Royal Navy. I knew the time was upon us and I knew Admiral Nelson would be leading his Victory at the front and center of his fleet, I could not see how many ships they had, but I knew it to be many. I called forth the men of my ship, gave them the orders, told them to entrust in god, in Lady Britannia, then I felt the first drop of the rain, and smiled, I thought I knew what was about to happen next, but I could not expect the ferocity in which the sea opened up, and the sky set ablaze with light. It was as if god himself had descended unto this world. Rain began to pelt the side of the ship, howling winds came in, pushing our ship faster than we thought capable towards our enemy. We began to open fire around eight fifteen in the morning, however it was so dark it could be mistaken for night, the only light in the sky was the flash of light within the sky and the flash from our cannons. We took fire and continued to use the wind to our advantage using it to quickly change directions and take out two ships at a time. We continued to fire each salvo until only few ships remained. the amount of ships that lay scuttled was numerous, the bodies floating to the top of the water, the sea red with blood. When we boarded the last remaining ships, many captains surrendered and joined our cause. Only Nelson put up a fight, if you could call it that. As I boarded his ship, he began to spew how he was the royal admiral of the navy. Master of the sea, that he would kill me and put my head on the bow of his ship. That I was but a lowly pirate with a famous grandfather. I agreed and shot him in the head. I was tired of hearing his endless prattle. I strung him up on the bow of his victory, and told his second in command that I was now in charge. He promptly agreed and I told the ships with the delegates to Ireland to continue, I would take the Victory and my flagship to Edinburgh. I had a ship to burn.
