United Britannia Newspaper
Today, November 1, 1766, We have our independence. After Admiral Britannia burnt the SRS Victory in the harbor of Edinburgh, the black coats abandoned their arms and stopped fighting. Although the war was short much has been devastated. Farms have been destroyed, it will take some time to rebuild but I have no doubt that we will be able to and we will become a powerful nation. There are many delegates working in Feluciania to decide what kind of government we will have to run our great nation. Admiral Britannia is working to set up trade with Ireland. I can only hope that our future is just as bright as the morning sun that shone through my window this fine November morning. They must decide what our country will become, we are all free men and women. How will this country operate, we are a united republic. If I were to put my voice into this delegation, I would say that we need a central figure head but he will not have the power of the monarch, his power needs to be shared between more than one or two other branches of government. No I think we need multiple parties to reflect the social interests of the people. Have one figure head who is a part of one group that has majority vote from the people. However his or her power is then shared between three or four other parties that reflect the minorities interests as well. I think this will lead to a more practical and better government. I would call this the electoral branch, then they would be balanced by the Judicial branches which would have the power to say what is lawful and unlawful. Their sole duty would be to monitor and balance out the laws that the electoral branch would create.
